My blog….

Sorry I haven’t posted my blog properly for ages – I started a Facebook page and it has kind of taken over!

However, I’m aware that not everyone (yet!) has a Facebook account so until then I will try and keep my blog up to date (ish!)
We have had a new couple of pack members and a couple of old hands leave us. Laddie and Meg (the black labs) were part of my original pack when I started my business, and they have been constantly there since. As other dogs came and went, and people changed days etc – Laddie and Meg were on my afternoon walk, 5 days a week. However, they have now moved house over to the South Side of Glasgow and I do miss them terribly πŸ™
Thought I would treat you to a photo of another of my original pack members – Murphy. Don’t you be moving house now, Murph!!

Hoover

Hoover, the lurcher, has been coming out with me now for a couple of months – on and off.

He is a really super dog and he’s wonderful to walk and just loves his big countryside rambles.
He became a little unwell a few weeks ago, and we were all VERY concerned about him. Lots of vet visits, some nervously waiting for test result moments, but the great news is he’s back now and fully recovered!
Yeah Hoover! I’m so glad that you are back to full health πŸ™‚

Parker – the Vizsla!

Today, the Wild Side Walkers welcomed a new boy into the pack. Parker is a Vizsla and came out in the afternoon. He was really super, jumped into the van (always nice!) and got on SO well with my existing beautifully balanced pack of dogs.

I have always been so lucky with new dogs coming into my pack, and today was no exception.
Welcome Parker….we are going to get on famously!

Buddi

The Wild Side pack welcomed two new dogs a couple of weeks ago, Bailey and Buddi (our Cockapoos!)

Bailey came off lead first, as he was a little more dependent on his Buddi, but we have had a couple of off lead walks now too with Bailey and Buddi!
Yeah! Both dogs were really fabulous – really no issues at all. Both dogs are super friendly, and very responsive and have a ball on their walks.
Happy days πŸ™‚

September Weekend…

It’s always nice when there is a holiday from school or work, as it means that either my husband or one of my kids likes to come out with me (or sometimes them all!)

On Friday, Martin came out with me and loved meeting the dogs that he hadn’t walked with before – and lots of the old favourites too!
We even let Laddie (who wanders a little) off lead for the majority of the walk until he took off at full pelt into the forest with Martin in hot pursuit.
Firmly back on lead for the rest of the walk….and I was glad Martin was there to go clambering through the forest!!

Another wet day…

Really wet and wild walking today with all my usual suspects, the morning walk up at Mugdock.

I love Mugdock Country Park, and there isn’t a day goes by but I think how lucky I am to live so close to such a wonderful facility.
Today though, I never saw too much of it as my hood was up and I was looking down most of the way – as a quick look up meant a completely soaking wet face – never fun!!
Don’t you love this photo of some of my pack – with Ivy out front and the wind just caught her ears perfectly!

New Boy – Bailey

Today, the Wild Side pack were joined by a new couple of members – Bailey (in the photo) and Buddi.

Both dogs were great – Buddi is super sociable and is desperate to get off lead, but one step at a time!
Bailey is a little more ‘dependent’ on Buddi and I knew that there was no way Bailey would go anywhere without his buddy, so the lead came off him first – maybe next week for you Buddy boy!
Both are really beautiful dogs that are from a loving and caring home – my favourite breed!
Watch this space for Buddi’s photo (hopefully off lead!)

It’s Sunny!

A couple of great walks today with all my usual suspects, but thank goodness the weather has turned for the better again!

Yesterday, I walked with hood up battling against the remains of a hurricane. Most of the dogs really don’t mind at all – they carry on as if it’s a beautiful day – but I was at a 45 degree angle trying to stay on my feet!
Today was gorgeous – sunny and nearly warm. So I really loved today and could even get my camera out!

Family Reunion

Last night, I traveled through to Edinburgh to go for a walk on the range with my dogs Holly and Ivy and to meet up with part of the extended family.

We met Ivy’s mum – Meeka and dad – Kristo (Holly’s brother) and along with them came brother Dante and 3 of her full sisters.
It was amazing to watch them all interact and they all got on SO well.
Some of the other owners were amazed that a big pack of dogs could all walk together really well, with no fighting, but I wasn’t!
If you have a nice pack, with well balanced and friendly dogs – it’s really not difficult at all. In fact, it’s a real pleasure to see them all enjoy each others company and just enjoy their walk together.
Fabulous walk – I loved it!!

Euan

euanThis week I have been lucky enough to have been joined by a charming young man who is doing a week of work experience with me. Euan hopes to become a vet, but hasn’t really had a lot of exposure to dogs so had contacted me with a view to gaining some.

Maximum exposure he most certainly has had this week, with smaller packs at the start of the week (didn’t want to scare him off!), building up to larger packs as the week went on.
He has walked with so many different breeds of dogs that I couldn’t possibly list them all and has delighted me by being so interested in each of them. For a young man who hasn’t come into contact with many dogs, he certainly had zero fear, even when Monty (the Newfoundland in the photo) decided that he wanted ALL poor Euan’s doggy biscuits!
He seems to have a natural affinity with dogs – I was most impressed – as even some dog owners are intimidated when they see me walking towards them with eight!
Good Luck, Euan – I’m sure that you will make a wonderful vet.

Testimonials

First of all Jacqui is a dog lover and has a fantastic attachment to all her dogs. She first took one of our dogs almost 10 years ago and he absolutely loved going with Jacqui. He was always at the door waiting excitedly for her because he always got a good long walk in lots of interesting wild places. We have never regretted using Wild Side Walks and would recommend her to anyone. Professional, reliable, trustworthy – Jacqui knows and understands dogs and their needs (a real live dog whisperer ?). She is absolutely brilliant, can’t thank her enough.
